Braille for everyone

From the hmmmmm category, I give you this item from wise man David Weinberger, who suggests that by adding Braille to our modern computer keyboards, we could all theoretically learn it over some time. And considering how your brain “works” when typing, it’s not a half bad idea.

Happy Cigar Day!

It’s National Cigar Day, don’tcha know? Matt informed me of this in his all-cigar wiseness, and I thought it wise to pass it along.

-500 on the Dow?

Wow, as I sit here watching the ticker on my television, the Dow is down more than 500 points. Ugh.

MSNBC telling me that it’s biggest one day slide in more than 3 1/2 years. Somewhat coming back towards just under 500, but really.

I hate when my gas gauge is broken

Okay, okay, we all hate remembering to fill up the gasoline in our rental cars (or vans) before returning them, but what about when you *do* remember to fill it, but the gas gauge isn’t being friendly to you?

This, my friends, is what happens. And it’s really not safe for work.

Snow day for this?

Okay, I’m gonna say it – are the people who are currently living in the Northern part of New Jersey, around Montclair, Bloomfield, Clifton, Glen Ridge, and points East completely wussing out, or is it just me? I mean, last night Baristanet was reporting that they’d heard about some school closings in the area, which were clearly premature, given the fact that there might be one inch of snow on the ground.

Why is it that people lose all ability to drive when there’s a little bit of water on the roadways, and the roads are completely clear of snow? After having spent some time in Minneapolis and North Dakota in the last few months, I must point out that people here clearly suck while driving in bad weather. Maybe it’s a good idea to close schools after all, to save the children from being hit by a bunch of idiots who freak out when there are eight flurries on their windshield. What an embarrassment. Oh, and by the way, News 12, this list isn’t at all comprehensive.

Who wouldn’t do this?

Is it worth $100 a year for you to have an easier time through a lot of airports? Hell yeah, IMHO.

You’d probably heard that there were different services coming to airports near you (okay, maybe not near you) that would enable travelers to get a background check and then get their way through some security screening that would be a lot easier, or so they say. My fave morning email to get, Thrillist, drops science on Clear’s services, which are showing up at JFK in some terminals, and in at least one of Newark’s shortly as well. I’m so dropping coin on this.

Puma profits dwindling

Apparently, I haven’t been purchasing enough Pumas lately, because the company was hurt a bit after the World Cup last year, and apparently spent too much money on marketing.

I’ll have to work on that, I guess. [Thanks, Chris!]
