04/5/07 10:22 AM | Home | ContactFrank Thomas ad (stupidly) pulled
This morning, I had heard that an ad featuring the Toronto Blue Jays’ Frank Thomas getting into a pillow fight of sorts with (his?) kids had been pulled from the air because of concerns that the kid had been injured. Thilk found the ad for me on YouTube, and I’ve included it below.
I’m sorry, but aren’t we going a bit overboard here? It’s completely all in fun as you can tell by simply watching it (sorry, I’m taking 29 seconds of your life away), and the kid clearly gets up after being whammed off the bed. It’s meant to be silly, as many of the MLB ads have been for YEARS now. I mean, I would understand this if it were a little more “violent” but this is just overboard. We should just shut down this country and start two new ones. One for people who want to live in Nannyland, another for people who want to live in the United States of America.
We just need to go and form our own country.

The article says that it was “Canadian regulators” who “demanded changes.” So, we’re safe here in the Lower 48 — for now. Although judging by the noise that resulted from the Super Bowl Ad with the suicidal robot, who knows long we have until all creative advertising is completely imasculated.
Absolutely it does say that, I caught that, but the fact of the matter is that this is essentially the same crap we deal with here in the Lower 48, no matter what we like to say. Ugh.
