The Onion drops this amazing bit on us about how George Washington, like other retired American generals, had chimed in on George Bush’s handling of the war in the Middle East.

The caption under the first photo is priceless. “Washington likens Vice President Cheney to controversial British Chancellor of the Exchequer and Stamp Act architect George Greenville.”

No, really? I haven’t heard the word “exchequer” since college, so I’m way happy to have reinvigorated it in my head.

The word has been in the news quite a bit recently given the buz around the fact that the current Chancellor of the Exchequer — Gordon Brown — will be replacing Tony Blair.
