No really, Bill Cosby’s sweaters

Thanks to John for the heads up on the upcoming auction on eBay for Bill Cosby’s sweaters. You know, the ones made famous on The Cosby Show? The funds raised will go to the Hello Friend / Ennis William Cosby Foundation.

Pretty awesome.

Worse than falling while on the ice

Check out this video of Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury tripping while trying to get on the ice during the first game of the Stanley Cup Finals on Thursday. It’s just not good.

Props to Vodkafish for the link.

Fifty Thousand Shirts = $1,000,000 raised

Last night I’d heard about something that a guy named Steve Paterson has developed, along with a number of key partners, in support of those who died in the massive earthquake in China on May 12 – Fifty Thousand Shirts. His campaign is looking to sell 50,000 shirts at $25 to raise at least $1,000,000. Additionally, he is definitely looking for sponsors at various levels to cover the costs of materials, printing, etc. in order to take every single dollar raised from the sale of the shirts and make it a true charitable contribution towards the families of those who have died or those who have been injured.

This is one of the better ideas I’ve heard – for profit or not – in quite some time, and one I can see the online community – and beyond – getting behind very, very quickly. So drop on by the site, reserve a shirt (the store’s not up yet), send a note to see what you can do to help, mention it on your blog, Digg for the site, vote on Propeller, mention it on Twitter, whatever.

I’ve already reached out to Steve to see if I can give him any assistance from the PR front, and my first course of action would probably look just like this one, so perhaps this is a good start. Thanks for reading and taking the time to do just about anything with this post.

Cheers!
Tom

Weezer’s new “homage” to all things meme-y

You’ve gotta love the video for Weezer’s new “Pork and Beans” video. Clocking in at just over 1.3 million views (in the “official” version put on YouTube by the band) since its arrival on YT on Friday, it’s moving on up. To boot, they’ve got a SLEW of side content from the various video shoots that you’ve just got to check out.

Props to @veronica and anyone else I happened to read on Twitter who’d mentioned it.

McCainpedia & YouTube

On the same day that McCainpedia is making waves with the television media, another video is making its way around the ‘net about “conflicting” messages from presidential hopeful John McCain, and it’s not pretty. Check it out…

YouTube is currently tracking about half a million views of it since it was published on Sunday, and surely that number will jump, especially as it’s the #4 most discussed video on YouTube as a whole according to its “honors.”

I’m not taking any political stand with this particular post, and firmly believe that McCain and whomever the Democrats finally decide to put forth will probably fight it out pretty hard, but stuff like this definitely sticks in the craw of people who were already slightly “against” you, don’t you think?

SPOILERS: The Happening

Okay, I’m not going to post it here, but upon viewing the spoiler for M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming “The Happening,” I’m greatly disappointed, especially after really wanting to see this. I’m still going to watch it because it looks pretty crazy, but seriously?

Not using Windows much these days, but…

Chris Thilk gave me the heads up on this awesome bag for your laptop, featuring the “My Document” (note it’s not My Documents) laptop case, with single-pixel letters and all. Nice. I kinda want it – to put my Mac in.

Best mashup in awhile

I hadn’t seen this crazy mashup before Dave passed it along on Twitter tonight.

Check out this fantastic cross of Unk’s “Walk It Out” with “Fosse.” Just wow.

What’s that cruise ship doing?

Okay, maybe it’s not the cruise ship we need to worry about.

Check out WNBC’s Sue Simmons dropping the F-bomb (she later apologized in the 11pm newscast) during a newsbreak around 10:26pm on Monday night.
