It’s today’s Afternoon Random Ten time, and today’s edition brings you number-friendly songs and artists. Enjoy!
- Phoenix – “1901″ – enjoyed this one in the Cadillac commercials yet?
- The Clash – “Four Horsemen” – what a fun band that I wish I had caught live. In any case, a slightly more “fun” song than the title would make it seem like.
- Three 6 Mafia – “That’s Right” – I think if it were possible to ruin CDs anymore from overplaying songs, this one would be one that my car stereo had womped on.
- 311 – “Six” – When I tell you that 311’s “Grassroots” is like fifteen years old, you’re not going to freak out, right? Nick Hexum referencing “The Raiders of LA” is more than amusing.
- Guster – “Thirty Seconds Silence” – If you know this song / album, you’ll know that I cheated right here. But it’s funny if you get the joke.
- The Beastie Boys – “Three MCs and One DJ” – getting phone calls from Mix Master Mike has to be the awesomest thing.
- The Cranberries – “Twenty One” – Funny how a lot more of the songs from this group are much more “like” this one than the few songs that got a ton of radio play, etc.
- Blur – “Song 2″ – here’s to wondering what the population of people who KNOW the title of this song vs. the the number of people who are familiar with the song as the “woo hoo” song.
- Luniz – “I Got 5 On It” – This song wins at pretty much whatever it wants.
- A Static Lullaby – “We Go To Eleven” – A joke that will never, ever, get old.
