Riff the cat is officially not the brightest bulb in the house, although he has officially decided that chasing shadows, glinty objects, and light refracting through wine glasses is his new thing to do. How fascinating.

So, Riff the cat has made the Purina Pet Charts for June 3, 2008 – go on over there and vote for him! He’s the #7 pet (as of right now) that day, so you might have to scroll a little bit to the right, but he’s there. He’s the black cat staring at the camera next to a big green plant, with the title “This is my plant.”

We had taken this shot when he decided that getting his relaxation on when some space was opened up on the metal shelves this past weekend. So I guess being a slacker does pay, sometimes, huh?

[Update 1/11/08] Okay, I lied. this is still the best LOLcat ever.

so i’m kinda bummed now… we had two cats at my mom’s house, and one of them got really sick this week and just passed away a little bit ago, while we were there eating dinner. she was the crazy cat of the two, and didn’t really like a lot of people.. she would rope you in by rubbing up against your leg and when you went to pet her, she would bite you and swat at your hands or feet or whatever…. the other cat we have is all standoffish and was like weirded out by her.. so apparently all day she had just been laying down under a little blanket, not really interacting or anything, and she kind of moved her eyes a bit when i got there and looked at me, and meowed a bit. it was kind of strange, you know how people say pets like wait to see people before they die? i’m not sure if that’s the case, but she’d seen my mom and my sister who live there, but i’d not been there since the weekend… she like meowed and whatnot and then like just was breathing funny for a while… was kind of sad, really…. so it’s kind of obvious foreshadowing that i had posted the “pets” question/topic on the topics blog earlier today… so i’ve now just buried the cat in the backyard near the birdbath thing… i think it’s kind of an odd concept that i won’t see the “crazy cat” anymore… she won’t be attacking me repeatedly and chasing my feet around the table and running rampant all over the house with the other cat….
