Reindeer, hip-hop & Nike basketball

Fan of Christmas (or Nike, for that matter) or not, you’ve gotta love the Christmas-themed spots featuring the MVPuppets that Nike’s currently running on TV right now. Check out the series, which kicks off with Blitzen (or Lupe Fiasco) throwing some beef Santa’s way, followed by Santa’s response (via the ever-awesome KRS-One), and finally Kobe and LeBron dunkin’ on some reindeer (dunk…dunk…dunkin’ on some reindeer).

Here’s the whole series:

Some awesome tidbits: “Santa lookin’ shook, Kobe lookin’ shook, LeBron lookin’ shook, I threw your ball on the roof.” Check for Santa’s “NP” jacket and LeBron’s “rap” around 1:30 in the third vid, too.

You thought the bunnies were cute…

Previously, New York Lottery thought it would get your attention with cute little bunnies. Now, they’ve moved on to cute little everything, in “Sleepy Time.”

Phoenix’s “1901″ Makes This Cadillac Spot, IMHO

A lot can be said (and already has) for an ad that contains great music and the effect it has on potential customers for the advertiser, and in this case I find myself not only loving the song in the first place, but thinking it’s one of the better ad / music matchups I’ve seen in awhile. Check out this spot for the new Cadillac SRX, featuring Phoenix’s catchy “1901.”

Music supervision for the win.

Bank branches and advertising concepts

While eating lunch this afternoon, I caught this post from Costa about local branches aren’t exactly a bull market these days for the banking industry, and it’s not surprising given how much takes place digitally. But the moment I read his post, it got me thinking back to a commercial that’s not that old, from Bank of America, touting its branch strength (it’s like bench strength, but different) and how easy it is to find one.

Check out the ad, entitled “E-mail,” below.

I’m a fan of the local bank branch and while I typically use the ATM vestibule, it’s nice being able to walk in one, but do handle most of my banking-related needs online. That said, it’s funny how quickly something like the positivity of branches “everywhere” might not help the bottom line in today’s economy.

Spoofing the MacBook Air commercial

Earlier today, I landed a tip from the Viralbomb mailing list about the video below, featuring a “devious” commercial for the MacBook Air.

It’s kind of an interesting way to tell people that they don’t need to buy a new laptop just for the sake of buying a new laptop and discarding what they’ve got. And, at the same time, it’s pretty darn obnoxious.

AT&T & A-B spots

I’m not the only one who sees the resemblance – maybe only to the end of the second spot, but still – between this AT&T “Buddy” ad:

And the ever-famous, way mashed-up Bud ad from years ago, am I?

Still digging this Sprint / NASCAR spot

I’ve gotta say, I’m still really digging this NASCAR / Sprint Cup spot that Sprint has been running on television, featuring the “monsters” versions of the Sprint Cup rides, using the flashy light that the phone carrier has been utilizing in its ads of late.

Every time I watch it, I catch something new that happens or is peculiar about the lights, etc.

Pontiac does it right with G8 commercial

Jeremy just hit me with an IM pointing me to Scott Beale’s post about Pontiac’s G8 advertisement featuring the world of Midway’s “Spy Hunter” video game. I’ve gotta say, the demographic being reached and the target market for the product are actually spot on with this, as folks who dug the game are probably ones who would dig this car. Head over to Scott’s post and check it out.

OMG Reebok is on point

David sends along a link to Reebok’s Perfectville, which features the ‘72 Dolphins. And only the ‘72 Dolphins. Way to go, Reebok!
