New bottle caps

So, I noticed today that the bottle cap on my Coke looked different here in Seattle, and pointed it out on Twitter.

Just a few minutes ago, Eliot was kind enough to share a nifty side-by-side comparison of bottle cap shiftage. Thanks, Eliot, for confirming this change in bottle cap shape and size.

I LOVE THE INTERNET.

World, you can go back to spinning normally now.

I love those cupcakes like McAdams loves Gosling

My pal Joy just IMed with this item from Eater, about how NYC’s Magnolia, famous for its cupcakeness, was shut down (until at least Friday, they say) for not having two sinks, as declared by the Board of Health in the city.

What will the hordes of people coming to re-live something that some people claim was made big by Sex and the City, but was really pretty good all along?

What will Chris Thilk do without Magnolia cupcakes?

Wondering if Diet 7-Up is really that good…

Okay, I really dig 7-Up. Now I typically stick to Coke, specifically, and Sprite for lemon-lime, but if places have 7-Up I tend to be all over it. Planes, for some reason, have a lot of it – guess that’s why there’s none left on land. In any case, caught this post over at Slashfood, where Joanne Lutynec wrote up that heading over to 7up.com and signing up for a Challenge Kit will get you some nifty Diet 7-Up and they’re looking to get you to compare their products with the competition. I’d expect to see this floating a bit on the blogs when those badboys start showing up on people’s doorsteps.

Mmmm, beer

Been enjoying, perhaps too much, it seems, the couple of growlers brought home from the Bethlehem Brew Works this week. Makes it way too easy to have good beer that’s effectively on tap. Though I guess you want to finish it way too quickly, and a two hour drive to get more beer isn’t exactly convenient.

In any case, if you’re in Bethlehem anytime soon, make sure you stop in. It’s actually that good. Oh, and have the chili in a bread bowl, too.

Hopped up on Enviga

Earlier today, I got a call from one of my co-workers who knew that I had a bit of a thing for Enviga… And she was wondering if it was like having too much caffeine. Now, being that I’m the person who can go to bed with a Coca-Cola if I so desire, I said it really didn’t have that effect on me, but I imagine if I had too much of it in a short time that could be the effect. In any case, it turns out that while having three Envigas (Enviga?) in one day may burn calories, having more than one of them in an hour or so probably isn’t in your best interests. Just my two cents.

I have Lego ice cube trays and you don’t!

A few days ago, David pinged me to let me know about the Lego ice cube tray. Of course, I had to have them.

Who carries cash, anyway?

To further fuel my debit-card frenzied life, I’m happy to say that I’m a huge fan of the soda machines (typically in hotels, at least in the U.S.) that allow for the use of a credit/debit card to purchase soft drinks. CNNMoney picked up an article today from Fortune Small Business that talks about USA Technologies kicking out its latest machines to Coca-Cola, 1,000 machines in total. These new machines take both cards the traditional swipe way, as well as the new RFID cards, which the bulk of the public knows under names such as PayPass.

Last week, after landing in Philadelphia on a return trip from Dallas, I caught one of these machines on my way out the door to the car. Thankfully, it took a card because I had a $20 bill on me, and that was it. And, at 1:15am, there is just about nothing open in the airport, so this soda machine was a life saver. Now…if only I hadn’t paid $.50 more than if it wasn’t a credit card machine…

If Starbucks raises its prices, how can you tell?

Just read this item from Bloomberg News’ Mary Jane Credeur, about how Starbucks is bumping its prices about a nickel on average across the board. My only statement here is: How can you tell? When I worked on Wall Street in NYC, the three or four Starbucks on our street all had different prices – on the menu – for exactly the same drinks. Sooo, after a while, you don’t really care. Non story, if you ask me.
